Refrain from parking your car in the garage until the garage door is repaired. Additionally, try not to open and close the door while it’s in this condition. With that amount of possible force coming from the springs or cables, they could potentially damage your vehicle or other property in the garage as well as cause serious injury. It’s especially important that you and your family stay away from these cables or springs until everything is repaired.
My Wayne Dalton Torque Spring system had a broken spring and the door would not go up or down. My Genie door opener system was overworked attempting to open and close the door. I called Precision Door Service and Matt responded within two hours. Matt inspected the complete garage door and operating systems and gave me a quote to replace both the Wayne Dalton Torque Spring door opening system as well as the Genie door operator. I was completely satisfied with Matt's knowledge and professionalism. He prepared a quote and he had all of the necessary parts on his truck and was able to complete the entire transformation in about two hours. Thank you Matt and Precision.read more

Thread the cables and tighten the drums. Run the lift cable between the roller and the doorjamb. Slip the lift cable stop through the cable slot on the drum. Then, attach locking pliers to the torsion tube to secure it in place. Spin the drum to wind the cable into the grooves, then tighten the set screws. Repeat on the other side, leaving the locking pliers in place.[11]

Although garage door springs can break during any season and at any time, they most commonly break during the winter. This has to do with the temperature change. When the temperature sinks below a specific threshold, the metal will contract. This means it’s extremely possible for your door springs to shrink slightly during the winter months. This is hard on the springs and makes them more likely to break.
So there you have it. Although it might seem like a lot of work, it’s very easy if you know how to work the springs so that they don’t injure you. Springs are easy to replace, so instead of calling the garage door repair company to come and replace them, it is better to do it yourself and save hundreds of dollars. Garage door springs are readily available and just by understanding the details; you can complete this DIY project without any troubles at all.

If you notice that the garage door opens normally but doesn’t make any attempt to close when the remote is pressed, the first thing you’ll want to do is visually inspect the photo eyes. Over time, these eyes can get dirty, causing the light from the beam to be blocked. They also can eventually become misaligned, causing the eyes to not match up on both sides.
